I was going through my materials, trying to get them in some sort of order so that maybe I could keep up with this blog on a more regular basis, and I came across this particular helpful item. One of Cara's greatest strengths is her ability to follow directions. Of course, there was a time she was learning this skill. Her speech therapists were the ones who did a lot of exercises with following directions. At the time they were reading her the directions, working on verbal communication. I decided to try and make my own direction-following activity. I think I had Cara actually read the directions since she is very good with written communication, but it could be read out loud as well. Although, this was not one of our early direction-following activities due to the number of steps involved.
