Jesus is Love

February 2, 2024

Wow! I have been working on this a long time! Well, I am still not giving up! My thoughts for today are at the bottom.

October 16, 2022

1 Peter 2:23-25

Take Time to Pray

Psalm 86:1-4

1 Hear, O LORD, and answer me,

for I am poor and needy.

2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to You.

You are my God; save your servant

          who trusts in You.

3 Have mercy on me, O LORD,

For I call to You all day long.

4 Bring joy to Your servant,

          for to You, O LORD,

          I life up my soul.

Examine

23 When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead, He entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly. 24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Notice

God

·       God judges justly.

·       Jesus died for our sins, so that we may live free from sin.

·       Jesus is our one true “Shepherd and Overseer.”

Lesson

·       Jesus is our perfect example of how to act when experiencing trouble.

·       Jesus died for our sins and we should live our lives in gratitude to Him.

·       Jesus is sacrifice and high priest.

Do

Question

·       How can I live my life today in gratitude to God?

Response

·       Take care of my family.

·       Time with God.

·       Laundry.

Thoughts from today as I look at these verses a year and a half later.

Jesus is God. He didn't have to put up with the insults and the abuse. He could have struck them all down and walked away. But He didn't. He took the insults, the abuse, and the pain. Then He meekly walked to Golgotha, carrying my sins. There, He let them nail Him to a cross and on that cross, the Lord died to save me from sins.

I just read Job 42:3 where it says "things too wonderful for me to know." That is what Jesus' love is like to me. There is no way for my limited human brain to truly comprehend how vast God's love is for me. I only can grasp a corner of it as He surrounds me with it. And when I stop and et that love wash over me, there is joy and peace in my heart and soul . It washes away the pain and struggles of the world and lets me rest in His loving embrace, filling me with His light.

I love when God's Word fits together. Yesterday I was struggling with applying 1 Peter 2:23-25 to my life or what God was trying to tell me. Today after reading Job 42:3, 1 Peter 2:23-25 began to speak to me.

I can't imagine how many times I have been that sheep starting to wander away. Then I hear my Shepherd's voice calling - calling me to come back to Him. I know voice and will follow it to my beloved Savior.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you so much for loving me beyond my comprehension. Thank you for

dying on the cross to save me from my sins and help me to remember how incredible

that gift truly was. Keep me close to you and thank you for calling me back when I

start to wander. Thank you for loving me - a poor, miserable sinner with nothing to

offer You. I love You and trust You. Once again, thank you.

Amen
